How do you know when it’s time to unplug? What do you do to make it happen?
I know it’s time to unplug and recharge myself when I start to feel overwhelmed or stressed out by my daily routine and it feels like being in a rut. When I’m not sleeping well and feeling malaise that’s when I know it’s time to take a break and unplug.
When this happens, I know it’s time to pay attention and take care of myself. To unplug and to get back to myself I practice yoga asanas. If I only have a few minutes, I will do just a few poses like mountain, child pose, cat cow, a couple of the warrior poses, and cosmic dancer, which is a favorite of mine. I immediately feel relaxation when I do these.
I also like to unplug with music by listening to my favorite playlists on Pandora.
Sometimes I take meditation breaks by sitting quietly, paying attention to my breath, and trying to clear my mind.
It’s encouraged to do something creative to unplug. My modalities for creativity are writing poetry and crochet.
Taking walks is also a thing I do.
