Catawba Island, OH
This was not my first visit to Gideon Owen Winery, but it was the best so far. I had a great dinner in one of the glass houses with our friends up north. Even though it was a cold, windy evening, we were toasty in the beautiful setting inside the glass house.
We started with the yellowfin tuna as a shared appetizer. It was slightly over-seared but still very good. I had the blackened salmon with cucumber dill crema, Brussel sprouts, and new potatoes. My husband had the prime rib with garlic mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts. Since we share, I can attest that both meals were perfection. I paired with Caymus-Suisun, “The Walking Fool”, Red Blend / California and Chris had a Gideon’s Old Fashioned.
After dinner we went into the cellar to the speak easy which had a fun, dank atmosphere with a warm fire and live acoustic music. Weekends like this are always a reminder that empty nest life with friends is good. I’m looking forward to the next time.
