On Life Changes Due to Covid-19 Pandemic

Daily writing prompt
What’s the biggest change in your life from the Covid-19 pandemic?

I have found that I am more cautious about being in crowds. I am selective in who I spend time with. I haven’t heard a live band play in three years, which is something I did on the regular pre-pandemic. I miss concerts, dining out, and being social. I got married just before the pandemic began and joke that we honeymooned in quarantine. Because we are with each other nearly 24/7 it’s like we’ve been married more than a decade because of the quantity of time that we spend together. We have missed holidays and family parties that weren’t outdoors.

The pandemic changed the way I work, shop, and socialize. For three years my husband and I lived in isolation because we are a high-risk household because of health conditions. We still do grocery deliveries, online shopping, and limit social interactions. I have been working remote since March of 2020 only being on campus for connect weeks last summer before getting an exception from them because we are a high-risk household. Full-time remote work suits me, but I miss people.

After three years of social isolation, I went to my nephew’s wedding on New Year’s Eve where I contracted covid and spent the following two and a half months very sick. I had had oral surgery days before the event for a post placement which was initially healing fine but because of the sustained high fever and vomiting for two weeks from covid, the implant failed and had to be removed with emergency surgery three weeks after it was placed.

I would say that the biggest impact is the isolation which we remedy in small group weekends with friends that choose to be as careful as we are.

Hi - I'd love to hear from you!!
